Day 16
1/16/17
Today I read an article about fashion, specifically tips on how to become more fashionable. It was aimed at women, encouraging them to be more bold in their clothing choices, which will inevitably translate into being bold in life.
Although not immediately transparent, it’s not far-fetched to see the validity of this claim to fame. Women who dress well are showing love for themselves, and simultaneously projecting an inner confidence. Spending the time to lovingly shop and put together an outfit, with good quality materials designed by people whose ethics we want to support, is actually a form of a sacred ritual. It is how we project what we think we deserve to wear on our bodies, and what we want others to see. Some parade brand name luxury, some flash their colorful quirkiness, some scream silently for attention with accentuated blackness, while still others pine away in the corner with the blandest basics.
Fashion can be a way to express oneself artistically and creatively, and sends messages to one’s surrounding environment. As such, it can be used as a tool to boost our self-worth and add a pep to our step (ha!). As they say, when you look good, you feel good. So think about that, ladies (and gents!).
