Today, I want to honor all mothers, for bringing life into the world. But life comes in many forms, and I want to expand the definition of motherhood to encompass creation of all types.
Birthing a child is an enormous, indescribable experience (which I was lucky enough to experience). But birthing a project, bringing an idea to fruition, is also a deeply immersive process of connecting to source and giving our creation life.
I used to think that I lack creativity. I was brought up to trust my logic and rationale, and not my instincts. But, I learned that creativity can be harnessed. Just like exercising grows muscle, so too, do creative endeavors enhance our creativity. All the adages apply here: Practice makes perfect, If you don’t use it you lose it, etc.
Once I started creating content, I was scared I wouldn’t be able to keep pace. I had the scarcity mentality, operating from fear. But by really stretching myself, I discovered that I have so much more to give. As soon as I began to create, new ideas started flowing from somewhere within. I thought I’d drain myself and have nothing left to say, but I find myself replenished and ready to speak my truth more and more.
So let’s honor our Mothers, and their Mothers, without whom we wouldn’t be here today. And let’s also give thanks to the creators that birthed the ideas which have made possible the world we live in today. Finally, let’s continue co-creating with the Creator/Universe/Source to make the world a better place tomorrow.
